ExH has committed suicide

I've just found out this evening that my ExH has committed suicide. He had a history of mental illness. We split up 9 years ago. My two DS's 14 and 9 saw him every month or so but were close. They don't know. I found out via a text message from my ExMIL to my DM. No details.

How do I tell my poor boys?

So sorry for your family, especially your boys, so sad for them.
Please seek specialist support if possible.
My sisters partner did this 10 years ago (she found him) and she is still suffering post traumatic stress. It’s very hard for those left behind, so many unanswered questions.
