De-scaling a Tommee Tippee bottle steriliser

This is probably a really stupid question- I’m descaling my tommee tippee steriliser ready for babies arrival. So I have the Milton sterilising solution in there but do I just leave to sit in there or do I turn the steriliser on? I’ve googled and in the Tommee Tippee support page it just says to pour in 250ml of white vinegar or sterilising solution and leave for half an hour to 24 hours. So just leaving it in there will de-scale it? Or turn on the machine then leave it? Thanks in advance

Hi, I cleaned mine with lemon juice and it came up really well. I think you just leave the solution in there, don't turn it on.

We have the phillips one and we put in vinegar and turn it on.

I heated it up, switched it off, then chucked in citric acid and let it fizz for half an hour. No idea if that's right, but it worked.

Thanks for your replies. I found a video!! So Milton stuff isn’t good to use so I’ve chucked in vinegar and I’ll just leave it in there!

Milton will sterilise, but it won't remove limescale, and if you live in a hard water area you will get that. Basically the steriliser is like a kettle - anything acidic will descale it, including vinegar. Hope it comes up shiny and bright!

Liquid steriliser for a kettle is the easiest option (in my opinion), just put it in turn it on with some water in then clean it out. I usually wipe over with hot soapy water then clean water before using again. Remember to descale regularly as it will prevent it working properly.
