Can I hijack? How long do you pat their back for? Mine doesn't often have wind but I'm not sure if I'm giving up too early.

ChaosMoon · 12/05/2019 01:51

Ooh, I have the same question as FirstTimeMumApril19!

I assume you mean for milk?
For breastmilk I just put straight back down. Bottle of formula - quick rub on back 30 seconds?
I think winding is a total waste of time get some sleep instead.

Though mine doesn’t have reflux so can’t speak for that.

MustardScreams · 12/05/2019 05:27

Until I got a good burp out of dd, 5-10 minutes? I breastfed but found she still needed winding.

Breastfeedingworries · 12/05/2019 05:37

I breast fed but still winded, took about 3 mins roughly to get the wind up. My dd is rarely sick, I can count how many times she’s had spit ups and she’s never been full on sick in her life so far 🤞🏻 She’s 5 months, and we started weaning early, she gobbled all the food down so far 😂 veg or fruit she’s not choosey.

20 minutes

ChaosMoon · 12/05/2019 10:10

DD is EBF but she has a tongue tie, so swallows a lot of air when she feeds. I can be buying her for up to 20 minutes with virtually nothing coming out but once she's been lying down for a while (10-15 minutes) she gets really fussy and clearly needs winding again. My technique must need a lot of work. ☹️
