as ds is now at school, last night we had both boys in bed at 7.45pm,which is at least an hour earlier than normal.it was a bit freaky! we had a whole evening to ourselves, ate a meal together etc and really enjoyed our bit of grown up time.the downside? here i am on mumsnet at 6.07am,having been up since 5.30am with ds2!!!!
i should still be asleep!!!
Is this how its going to be now??? i'm not sure i can cope with permanent early mornings like this.any tips on getting him to sleep longer? It's annoying because I'm pretty certain he is going to be going back to sleep at about 8.30 which is when I need him to be awake as i have to take ds1 to school.
sorry about crap typing have got baby on knee..typing one handed.

alexsmum, you have my sympathies. I too have been wide awake - since 3 am. (I had a horrible dream about 9/11 and couldn't get back to sleep)

How old is DS2? is he still sleeping during the day?
I found that if DD slept too late in the afternoon,, she wouldn't go down until really late, then she woke early and was really miserable. A 2 hour sleep at 12 - 1pm meant I was able to get her to bed for 7, and she slept through til 6.30 -7 am.

She is 2 now and dropping her daytime naps, so I am trying to get her to sleep for longer at night - I long for the days when I could get her to sleep to a decent hour!

as predicted ds2 went back to sleep at about 7am and slept until it was time to take ds1 to school. That was it then, wide awake. I forced him to go to sleep about 11am so I could close my eyes for an hour but I then just had stressful dreams about waking up and finding I was hours late to pick ds1 up from school!!
This starting school malarkey takes a lot of adjusting to, doesn't it???
