Introducing formula

I have a 3 week old and a nearly two year old.
The baby is EBF but I'm thinking of introducing a formula bottle at 7pm so the baby doesn't go hungry while I'm doing the toddler bedtime.
Dad does bath currently but finds bedtime a challenge cos toddler is over excited whenever he does bedtime.
So I'm thinking that dad can give the bottle to keep the baby topped up and then we can boob later in the night if needed.
Expressing isn't an option - my flow is rubbish and I'd like this baby to be familiar with formula so that it doesn't come as a shock in later life ( the toddler never took to formula ever)
Is there anything I need to be aware of. I've looked at paced feeding etc.
Basically, I still want the baby to prefer boob and I don't want to mess up my supply. I doubt one bottle will make a difference but looking for advice.

Please can this remain a helpful thread and not become a boob or formula debate.

Thankyou

My dd had a bottle of f a day from around 3 weeks. We initially gave the f at 10-11pm ish, dp would feed her this bottle so I could go to bed early. At 6 months we moved the ff to 7pm when we started putting dd to bed, u til then she was downstairs with us all evening.

Have you bought bottles yet? Breast fed babies can be fussy. Mam and Nuk bottles are often preferred.

Mine happily accepts tommy tippee anti collic bottles, and we pace feed. Some slight issues with bottle preference for a bit but not too bad. And I give formula cold rather than boob warm so baby knows it’s different.

Also mixed fed quite early.
If I were you I would give the baby a bottle at 6 then bf after the toddler was settled.

We introduced one bottle from three weeks at around 6pm. Worked really well. Didn't impact my supply - I think it was low around that time in the evening anyway. We used Dr Brown bottles and Cow & Gate formula - no issues. Good luck.
