3 year old potty training disaster

My just turned 3 year old is driving me potty..

I have recently given up work to look after my 3 year old and 15 month old. My 3 year old was potty trained, just before I gave up work. But now it is turning into a battle of wills -

if you ask him he says he doesn't need to go and gets wound up and then promptly pees himself...
he finds getting trousers down and off stressful and gets awfully stressed if he has his shoes on, most likely to go to toilet if bare bottomed at home...
he can't get comfortable if we have to use public toilet and carrying some sort of seat for him to use is not pratical as I already have a huge amount of bumph to carry about..

Any way it is a total unmitigated disaster and I am fed up with the contast changing and laundry, at least twice a day...

What do I do ?

I know all the advice - don't make an issue of it, encourage him to go at regular times etc.. but I am not organised enough probably and my 3 year old is a bright articulate lad who is more interested in how the world works to boring things like eating and peeing in the toilet !!!

How frustrating. We've just been through a period of accidents with dd following a move and it is incredibly frustarting when you know they can do it but for whatever reason don't. Sympathies with the piles of washing and mess.

I know you say you can't carry a seat a around but for ds we had a Tommee Tippee ToodleLoo which folds up to about the size of a large packet of wipes. Otherwise is he tall enough yet to stand up to wee - think ds was around 4 but he wasn't that tall.

I used to dress ds in really loose joggers which he could manage more easily and perhaps leave him in just pants at home for the time being.

Good luck
