Ear piercing?

How do you feel about ear piercing? For a 6 year old boy? Just unsure about it all, my 6 year old keeps talking about it but I have mixed feelings. Any advice would be great, have your kids got piercings? Thanks!

I personally don't like piercings on boys and I consider 6 too young for my daughter because she wouldn't understand how much pain and aftercare is involved but most of her friends have them done and it doesn't seem to have done any lasting damage.

Regardless of if girl or boy, 6 is too young to understand how to look after the piecing correctly.
I was around 14 and even then I struggled to keep it infection free.
I've set that as a minimum age for my girls.

If he does any sports activities it will make it very difficult at first while it heals.

I really don't understand why children are legally allowed to get ear piercings. If you took them to get their tongue pierced social services would be called.

Don't do it OP - your child isn't old enough to consent to body modification, they aren't old enough to understand the risks involved, they aren't old enough to understand how to properly care for a piercing. And anywhere that will perform a piercing on a child is unlikely to be a reputable piercing place, so I wouldn't take the risk.
