Primary school asking for national insurance number

Filling in acceptance forms for my child’s place at Primary School and I have been asked for her NI number. As far as I know we have never received one for her, is that correct? I thought you got them when you were aged 16. Any advice welcomed!

They're asking for yours

I did wonder that but it is under a section about her. Thank you.

Are they asking for her NHS number? It will be in their red book. Mine was on a sticker with their name

You are correct that you only receive an NI number near your 16th birthday

You are allocated an NI number at birth it is possible to know before you are 16. I know four of my children’s. However School wants yours.
