Gift for new baby

A friend has had a baby. We're not super close anymire and won't be seeing her until I travel home in June. However I want to get her something nice for her new baby/new life as a mother as she was a great support to me in the past. I was thinking one of those expensive baby thermometers or something? They are new parents and like practical gifts, any ideas?

Never ever used a thermometer nor know anyone else that has!

What’s your budget?

We have a thermometer for taking DCs temperature but we bought it ourselves, so they may have done already?

For a friend who had a baby recently I got them a personalised hooded baby towel with the baby's initial in a Liberty print - something nice but practical? Was from Etsy.

I'd be wary of giving a practical gift because chances are they've already got what they need/want and you'd either duplicate or get something they're not bothered about and therefore wouldn't use.
Vouchers feel like a bit of a cop out, but honestly, they've been the best gifts we've had - as time goes on you realise you need totally different stuff. Amazon is great.

What about something practical and personalised. Take a look at “my first years” each product comes gift boxed for free which is really nice when you are posting it directly to the recipient!

Vouchers were the best thing we received. He had a bazillion baby gros, vests, blankets etc that had minimal use. We had a few baby books and they are all untouched because I don't have time. I got sent some brownies as well, they were great!

Buy a matchstick monkey! It’s a teething toy and my little boy loves it.

We got TONNES of clothes and whilst we hugely appreciated the thought we definitely won’t use them all! We’ve got beautiful clothes he’s only had on once or twice which is a shame.
