Mattess problem!

Not sure if this is the right place to post.

Bought a cot and mattress in Mothercare in january but have not used it because ds has been in moses basket. Wrappings are off and it is in the bed.

He will be moving into the cot shortly and I am concerned the mattress is too small. i can easily get my fist between the mattress and the side of the cot and I can also touch the floor through the bars with my fingers. I guess the gap is a good 5 inches.

Is it too late to complain? What do I do to stop ds hurting himself?

Am already feeling anxious about him not being in the same room as me and this isn't helping!!!

what about with the sheets on it? does it make much difference.
did you measure?
can you get a better fitting one?

When I bought it I did ask if it met the safety standards and they said yes. It was only when making it that I noticed.

The gap I mean is with a sheet and mattress protector on.

I don't know if I can get a better one - will have to look. I assumed that if you buy them together that it would fit!

I will get the tape measure out tomorrow and have a search on the internet!

Annoying though as the mattress cost me GBP130

Thanks for replying.

Am trying to persuade dh to call mothercare and complain because I know I'll either be too timid or too angry!

good luck

Would just like to say that I complained to Mothercare about a pushchair and they totally fobbed me off. They basically lied so they wouldn't have to refund me !!!

(did get my refund eventually 'cause i'm a stubborn cow ).

They will hopefully be fine, but just in case....

dh is much better than me in situations like that

(we once received a damaged piece of furniture - I got so angry that I threatened to chp it up and post it through their letter box)
