At what age did you stop having a bath with your child?

I'm just curious really! I was a single mother up until three years ago. My son and I have always had a close relationship because of this. He's 7 now and he still occasionally jumps in the bath with me if I'm in there. I don't have an issue with it at all! He's still my baby in my eyes haha!

I just don't know when people usually stop doing this and why etc?

Obviously there's going to be an age where it will stop! And I think it will be soon for us for sure.

Thanks guys! X

My 7 still gets in every chance she gets. I think bath size will be the problem before appropriate ness

octonoughtcake3 · 28/04/2019 20:31

When either of you don’t want to or you no-longer fit is an appropriate time to stop.

toomuchfaster · 28/04/2019 20:32

Dd4 likes to have me or DH in with her. I refuse as the bath is too small, DH always hops in with her! Like PP I think size will be issue long before appropriateness is.

Lots of dc, never ever shared a bath!!
It's the only place of sanctuary I have!
Even the ddogs follow me to the loo!

Sizeofalentil · 28/04/2019 20:34

Me and my mum still bath together. She's in her 60s and I'm 34.

harrietkatie · 28/04/2019 20:37

Yes my dogs follow me in there too! No peace here.

I just don't mind it at all, he's my son and it's actually a lovely bond we have!

The only issue as to why I'm saying it might be sooner because he's starting to get all silly about my 'boobies!' Haha! Just being a typically giggly boy about them!!

Eventually we didn't both fit!
About age 6?

12pinkchairs · 28/04/2019 20:41

I don't bath with my child. I go in there to relax and a toddler is not relaxing!!

Fatted · 28/04/2019 20:45

I'm not one for baths and only really had them to make it easier to bathe the kids. It was once they could sit up in the bath on their own, I stopped.

My kids are 6 and 4 and I've recently had to stop giving them a bath together because of lack of room in the tub for them both. No bloody chance there would be room for me in there with them as well!

NannaNoodleman · 28/04/2019 20:46

My 2 year old DD already giggles at my jangly boobies.. I imagine she'll grow out of it. Grin

Hiddenaspie1973 · 28/04/2019 20:47

When we no longer both fitted in the bath.

Singleandproud · 28/04/2019 20:50

Dd always jumped in the bath with until this year so I guess when she was 8. It was decidedly uncomfortable towards the end as she is extremely tall and it also coincided with her joining a swim club so she normally showers there 5 times a week.

CottonSock · 28/04/2019 20:51

I still get in with mine sometimes, they love it. Age 2 and 5. Mostly I want my own bath though.

swapsicles · 28/04/2019 20:54

Don't recall the exact age but whenever I had a bath in the daytime dd would realise and strip off to join me! 7 ish perhaps?
Same would happen in my bed although that carried on til she was 13/14.
Kids stop when they're ready I guess.

user1494050295 · 28/04/2019 20:56

My dd is 9 and still comes in with me

Babdoc · 28/04/2019 20:58

Have never shared a bath with the DC. They were only a year apart so I put them in the bath together when they were little - I stayed dry beside the bath while washing them. I had my bath or shower in the morning, before work, and did theirs in the evening.

Betty777 · 28/04/2019 20:58

I only like baths if they are boiling hot. DS only likes them if they are pretty chilly - so it's not yet even been an option!

MullofKintire · 28/04/2019 21:02

I think I was 37

Thankssomuch · 28/04/2019 21:03

When my DS started secondary school at 11 he stopped wanting to bath with me.

megletthesecond · 28/04/2019 21:06

Never shared a bath.
My baths are too hot for them and I rarely have one. I can't think of anything worse than sitting in a cold bath.

They jumped in my shower a few times as toddlers but again, my showers were too hot. They squealed and got out.

feliciabirthgiver · 28/04/2019 21:09

DD16 doesn't want to get in the bath with me anymore but pretty much always joins me in the bathroom to tell me all about her day of teenage angst - I love that she does that (and it's useful to have someone to pass the shampoo/hairbrush/ towel etc).

Heratnumber7 · 28/04/2019 21:49

Me and my mum still bath together. She's in her 60s and I'm 34
Hmm
