Development delay -- private nursery??

My little boy recently turned 2. He has slight development delay (speech and language, and social and interaction) he's not talking at all except for "mama" but it's more of a noise/babble then referring to me as mum. Due to circumstances, he's never been around other children regularly, and although he's fine at soft play etc, he's always hated group activities and baby groups. He gets very unsettled. I do have very minor concerns about ASD. We were recently referred to a paediatrician but obviously just need to wait. We also have our second session with SALT this week.

I've been thinking of trying a private nursery two days a week to help his development and socialising. He's never been as my mum looked after him 2 days a week when I worked.

Do you think two mornings in a private nursery would be worth a try?

You could try a childminder. My friend's son has come on leaps and bounds in a few months with the childminder as he has a couple of friends there who are a little older. She chose this over a nursery as she felt that the childminder was able to get to know her son better and was more flexible.

I've got a few childminders I'll also be contacting tomorrow so it's good to know, thank you Smile
