1y/o only stands on tiptoes?

My son is 1 year old. He is a big baby - heavy and tall - and only started army-crawling a few weeks ago. Recently we have been trying to help him stand but we have noticed that he never puts his feet flat on the floor, he is always on his toes. Did anyone else’s baby do this? Is it normal? Is there anything I can do to correct it or should we just wait and see? TIA for your advice!

(BTW, the last nurse we saw seemed concerned that he couldn’t stand or walk yet but his paediatrician didn’t so I’m not going to worry about that yet though I know some people think I should be. Nevertheless we have made an appointment with the physiotherapist just in case).

My ds 9 was like this!! He was pulling up from 9 months but took him until 14 months to walk as he had to get his balance on tiptoes!!

He did get referred to orthopedics and monitored as it can require surgery but they said only if he was still doing it by 8 I believe it was. But they also gave me physio exercises and said to ensure that he walked flat as much as possible so when in shoes try to get ones where it's difficult for them to get up on their toes.. I found Adidas trainers great for this!! He still would walk on toes occasionally when bare foot until around a year ago but obviously as they get bigger you can communicate not to do that.

Hes now been discharged without any further intervention from orthopedics.

Adidas trainers - I’ll remember that if it ever comes to it!

Has he been in a baby walker or bouncer?

No he saw a physiotherapist a few months back and she said bouncers could delay crawling and walking so we’ve avoided them. Also walkers are banned where I live.

My son did this for ages. Didn’t crawl until his 1st birthday and walked at 16 months. He is now 21 months and you would never know he was late, running round like a normal toddler
Hv was a bit concerned at his 10 month check about not crawling and tip toes but we never had any follow up and it just corrected itself

I'd say it depends if he's only just 1 or is almost 2. There's a whole world of difference.

He turned 1 last week.
