How best to use holidays - maternity leave

Hi all

I am due to go back to work later this year and wanted to know how other people have used their accrued holiday and bank holiday etc

I am thinking about using the holiday during the last month of my 12 months maternity leave so I get a wage before I go back, is this the best thing to do?

The plan is to put baby in a nursery a few days a week and I have seen from other parents doing this their babies get all sorts of bugs so holding some holiday back incase of illnesses is something I’m also thinking

Please can I get advice on what you have done in this situation?

First time around with DS, I used my annual leave to do a phased return, so 3 days a week for the first month and then 4 days a week for another few months - so effectively part time working on full time pay which was a good way to test whether part time working was feasible.
