How long for milk to dry up?

My baby is 8 days old. My milk came in on day 3 but they are still full and painful. No other symptoms though so not mastitis. How long did it take for your milk to dry up? Not breastfed at all.

Hi lovely - don't worry, I'm not bfeeding either and mine took a full 7 days to return to normal. I feel for you. So uncomfortable! But the health visitor explained to me it takes so long because the milk all has to reabsorb somewhere. Mastitis is rarely a concern if you haven't breastfed. Hope this helps and feel better soon 😊

I also didn't bf at all -- it took about 2 weeks for it to ( almost ) dry up, though I did have the odd leak for a few weeks more . I used to get relief by having hot showers . Try not to stimulate them at all if you can help it , and wear your bra all the time. Good luck !
