I have ant infestation in my kitchen and I wiped the table with Lysol wipes then Clorox wipes after it dried!!!! My son was in the living room. After about 30 minutes I realized what I did. I’m seriously freaking out! I called poison control and his doctor they said to vent the area which I am and keep an eye on him. But I feel like I wanna explode. I can’t believe I did this! I feel like he’s already taken in the fumes and it’s too late. Idk what to do! Am I overreacting?? I would leave but he’s sleeping and my mil is over. I opened the door put the fan and now I’m in my room with him. What should I do?!?!!

I haven't even heard of those things... How old is your son? What's the problem with the wipes?

Ns19 · 18/04/2019 20:45

He’s 5 months old. There disinfecting wipes Lysol has ammonia in it and Clorox has bleach in it. I first wipes with the Lysol and then Clorox after it dried all while he was like 20 feet away.

This seems a very extreme reaction. Do you have anxiety? I wouldn't even think twice. 20ft away from some bleach is obviously going to be fine, isn't it. Try to think rationally about this.

Yes but bleach and ammonia can be toxic and I wiped with ammonia wipes first then bleach wipes after it dried so I’m not sure if that would give off toxic fumes or if they have to actually be mixed together. I was just hoping someone has done something similar

You mustn't mix ammonia and bleach but you didn't do this.
You waited 20 minutes for the table to dry first!
Wipe it clean with water and open windows, dont stress anymore

windysowindy · 18/04/2019 21:15

I do dislike when people ask if someone has anxiety when they are worried about something.
I suffer from general anxiety, my worries are as valid as anyone's
Really bad taste.
Unnecessary.

Ns19 · 18/04/2019 21:15

It might of been 5 minutes or so but the tables was dry

Continue to ventilate as you're doing anyway.

And cross all the wipe stuff off your permanent shopping list. You can do 99% of cleaning with washing up liquid, and the rest with vinegar.

NowWeAreSuckingDiesel · 18/04/2019 21:19

I'm asking because a doctor has said it's fine and yet this person is still 'seriously freaking out'. Having anxiety means you are unable to think rationally, i know, I have it too. Unfortunately, it does sometimes mean that if you are worried about something, it's perhaps not actually something worth worrying about because of the anxiety...

Ns19 · 18/04/2019 21:36

I see your point. I think I’m just so used to it now.

OP posts:
Ns19 · 18/04/2019 21:37

You won’t be the first to ask me that or the last. Don’t worry.

OP posts:
Ns19 · 18/04/2019 21:37

Yes! Turns out the wipes don’t contain bleach so I should be good. Thank you.

First stop panicking. Keep windows open all night (thats safe to do so) to air it out) you all may get a headache but that'll be worst case. X

Ns19 · 18/04/2019 21:58

Yeah thanks

You should calm down is what you should do
Your son wasn’t in the room and it doesn’t sound dangerous any way.
It does sound like an overreaction to something quite minor, which is why people have mentioned anxiety. If you think you do suffer from that OP try and get some help with it if you can

TigerQuoll · 18/04/2019 23:08

A better way to clean up ants is with diluted vinegar, because it disturbs the scent trails and then other ants can't just find their way back easily.
