Head bump

My 5 month old son bumped the back of his head on the left side when he rolled over. He hit the plastic toy thing that holds the little toys up for kids to grab (if that makes any sense). He didn’t cry he just looked at me really surprised. I check the area and it was red (not anymore). I can’t see or feel a lump and either can my husband but his head is pretty odd (he’s getting a helmet soon) he hasn’t fed yet but he played after and just went down for a nap. Should I be worried?

No...it sounds fine and they're very, very tough. They're designed to take a little knock from rolling over like that.

A proper knock would have made him cry in pain...scream even.

Ok thanks I thought so I just wasn’t sure if they had to cry or if it was ok for them not to cry lol FTM

Well if they get a really hard knock..and you see it's really hard and they don't cry, that would be unusual and I'd get it checked. But from what you describe, that's perfectly normal tumble....nothing dangerous. If you'd said he'd fallen backwards of a sofa and onto a tiled floor then I'd say take him to hospital.

But a bump from rolling....well it won't be hard given his weight and lack of strength.
