8 year old is always crying

I'd try and put as much detail as possible. I'm a single dad to 3 children. I lost my wife/their children just over 2 years ago. My middle child is 8 years old and she has always been very sensitive but it's getting worse.

She cries at most things, telling her off, asking her to do something she doesn't want to do, going to bed, doing homework, getting dressed.

Today she cried her eyes out as I asked her to swap seats with her cousin while we was out for a meal then was to upset to eat.

I feel awful for her I try to talk to her once she's calmed down but she can never tell me why she's got upset. Anyone else have a child that is like this?

(She gets bereavement counselling)

Is this normal behaviour? Or is it possible for a 8 year old to have depression?

And sounds like she’s overwhelmed?

Something isn’t right. How is school? What has changed recently in life?

Why did she have to swap seats?

WHAt if crying is it?

Is it angry crying? Sad crying? Temper tantrum?
