What layers to dress baby in...

Hi there, my boy is two weeks today. Just curios as to what layers you drsss your baby in? Our house is around 19.5C, I’m wearing a vest and shirt so figure that a short sleeve vest, sleep suit and light blanket is sufficient with an extra blanket at night. Should I be dressing him in a long sleeve vest at night instead of short sleeve? It’s much easier when he can go into a sleeping bag to follow the temperature guidelines!

General rule of thumb is that a baby should always wear an extra layer than you are.

I wouldn’t be putting him in a long sleeve vest, sleep suit and blanket at this time of year. Save that for the winter!

We brought Gro Snugs from Mothercare, which are smaller than the sleeping bags and come in two weights - cosy or lighter weight for warmer nights. They're similar to swaddling blankets but much easier as you just zip them up. You can leave the baby's arms in or out depending on what they prefer. My DD was small so she fit in hers up until 3 months but we would put her in that with either a long sleeve babygrow or a short sleeve vest, depending on the temperature.
