Help! My baby keeps leaking at night!

My 7 month old keeps leaking from nappy at night and he clothes have a wet patch. It coincides with him now rolling on to his front to sleep so it seems the pee just stays at the front of the nappy and then eventually leaks out as the leak is always at the front bit of the nappy.

He’s on size 4 so I tried size 4+ for his night time nappy but that hasn’t helped at all.

I am running out of clothes to get him changed into as I alway had enough body suits and sleepsuits to last him for the next wash but I don’t want to have to buy some more just because of this reason when he’ll be growing out of them in another month!

What can I do? Thanks!

Have you tried pull ups already? We use these on our 7 month old as there is less leakage due to wiggling. Or a different nappy?

I've been using the pampers pull ups for dd2 exactly for that reason. I think they start at size 4 and are quite often on offer. They are really padded at the front and hold a lot of wee.

Maybe try a different brand? We have leaks in some brands but not others. Find Aldi brilliant and cheap!

Two nappies on at night works for us

What brand are you using? I’ve always found aldi brilliant. No leaks. We tried pampers and lidl too and both of those leaked

Divgirl2 · 09/04/2019 10:48

Is it leaking because the nappy is full or because of positioning? Either way try a different brand first.

Make sure the penis is always pointing down when you put the nappy on, sounds obvious but covering the bases here.

Is it possible the nappy is too big and there's gaps forming?

Lazydaisies · 09/04/2019 11:10

I was going to say the same as PP. with DS we found pampers leaked, aldi/Lidl no leaks.

It’s Aldi I use. He has a bit of a belly as he’s a chunk so they never got round his belly just below.

He also has a fat pad around his penis so can’t position it down as it disappears within his fat pad anyway.

I will try pull ups.

Make sure you tuck the folds of the nappy into his thigh creases and size up if needs be and make sure his vests/pyjamas/babygro isn't too tight around it because this can cause compression leaks.

Another option is too add a cloth nappy wrap over the top to contain any leaks.

Sometimes the nappies leak if they cannot expand properly. I’d make sure that the sleep suit has plenty of room, and if he’s in a vest that it’s left undone or you size up at least 1 or even 2 sizes. If he’s in pyjamas, I’d leave the bottoms off or make sure the waist band is pulled up above the nappy.

Success! Pull ups worked. No leaks last night. Thank you for whoever suggested that Smile

Yay! I have a feeling that Lidl nappy pull ups are the same as Pampers. All others we tried were no where near as padded.

chargedproton · 10/04/2019 13:55

Do Lidl start in size 4? I had to buy Asda ones as Aldi don’t do size 4 pull ups
