Question about romper suits

My mum suggested to me that LO (currently 10 weeks) might enjoy having rompers (essentially footless sleepsuits) over his vests as the weather gets a little warmer (but not warm enough for vests only) in a month or so, so that he can have his feet out. I've had a look in the shops and online, and they don't seem to come in reasonably priced multi packs like the sleepsuits do, but as ones or twos for more money than a pack of sleepsuits!

As we get closer to summer, will they be available as multi packs in the shops, does anyone know? Or do I not even really need them? LO just wears vests and sleepsuits all day and night so far and I cant see us moving to proper clothes any time soon!

Nah I wouldn’t bother. He’ll still need socks, they don’t move much to warm themselves up.
I did love my older babies 6-12m in rompers like you describe though. So cute. And in summer, short sleeve / legged rompers are available in multipacks if 2 or 3 from most supermarkets etc and are very sweet for the warm weather and almost as easy for dressing as sleepsuits. Some come with poppers up the front so would be just as easy!

Ahh great thanks! I'll wait and pick some up for the end of summer then in case he fancies them when he starts crawling!

I found putting them in body suits with leggings or joggers is much easier

I loved rompers on DD during the heatwave last year (she was born in April so still very small), but unless we get similar again I don't think you'll need them. I think they'd be too cool for most British weather tbh. Next do sell them in sets of three or so, and they are very nice.

Imicola · 08/04/2019 14:54

I got a set as hand me downs... I think they were from next and assume they came in a multi pack!

I thought I'd be in sleep suits forever, but we moved on to little leggings, cotton trousers at about 5 months. He was a december baby so wasn't warm enough for short rompers. I would wait until summer and buy a pack of short rompers as when it is warm he will probably be in these. I never bothered with the all in one rompers as he's been in little cotton trousers and long sleeve tops with poppers since 5 months.

Yep and after so long in sleep suits it is nice for a change, I think it makes sense for crawling too

Agree with all previous posters. Have a look on eBay for then even to try out! Some come new with tags and can be loads cheaper

Liland · 08/04/2019 20:10

Thanks for the tips! I do have some lightweight jogging bottoms already for 6-9 months as I figure that's prime crawling age, but I will definitely check next and Ebay!

I loved my DD in rompers from next (got a 3 pack as a gift) in 3-6 months during a pretty warm summer. Very easy to wear and wash, kept nappy in place and looked gorgeous.

WoodenToyKitchen · 08/04/2019 20:27

For both my children, I won huge bundles on eBay for them. And both times, the rompers were in brand new condition. They're just awkward to wear.

Orangedaisy · 08/04/2019 20:43

www3.next.co.uk/style/st345144#645128 I’m talking about this type of thing. Was so easy to wear. Is everyone else talking about something different....?

WoodenToyKitchen · 08/04/2019 20:49

Yep, that's the sort. I personally didn't see the point in long or short ones.

Long, you have to somehow attach socks to the child. And short, I would rather they were just in a vest or nappy if super hot.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2019 20:54

DS wore footless sleepsuits from s few weeks old, because he has really long legs and big feet. 10 years later he still does!

I used to get them from Boots (3 for 2), Next and H&M.

Wallsbangers · 08/04/2019 22:50

I loved my LO in short rompers last year. So easy to get him dressed!

I found joggers/leggings really came into their own once he could roll over because once he worked that out trying to do up all those press studs after a nappy change turned into a right battle.

IchibanLipstickForMen · 08/04/2019 23:43

My baby was born in May just before the heat wave and she lived in rompers!
