Mucusy Newborn

My baby was born this morning at rapid speed, 3cm to birth in 17 minutes.
Because of this, he is full of mucus.
Every time I lay him down he is sick and squirmy, we have tried the incline on the hospital crib but it doesn't help.
After feeds I'm holding him upright for half hour but the second I lay him down, he's sick.

Anyone gave any suggestions please?

We had a very mucusy baby after a section. The only cure was just time and her bringing it all up. It took about 36 hours to really clear, and we had quite a few hospital crib sheet changes in that time!

Hi op congratulations. My baby was the same for a good few days, it'll be ok soon he just has to get it all up.

Thank you for responding. My husband has been gone an hour and Baby has blessed me with his 10th poo of the day, and sicked all over his bed and mine. So we're now sat in the day room, with him sound asleep on my chest!

DC2 was a quick birth (although not quite as quick as you!) and was bringing up all sorts of stuff for the first 36hrs or so. The MW put something a bit like a teatowel under his head and, each time he brought more up, just changed that and I quickly learned to have a muslin between his head & me.
I was really worried the first few times it happened as DC1 wasn't like it at all but then she'd been a 36hr labour so there had been plenty of time to squeeze all of that sort of stuff out of her!

Yes Muslins are your friend, we did exactly the same

My baby was the same - after around 24 hours had stopped being sick and fed ok. Was quite worried through the night in the hospital with the constant sickness, but they tipped the cot and told me not to worry
