Which reusable nappies would you recommend?

Hi there,

We're making plans to test and review reusable nappies and we'd love to know which ones you'd recommend.

If you've been impressed with a reusable nappy brand in the past two years, we'd love to hear about it. Your comments will help us to create a shortlist of nappies to test out and recommend to parents.

Also, if you have any tips on what to look out for when choosing reusable nappies please share them on this thread. We'll include these comments in our buyer's guide

Little & Bloomz nappies. A wonderful budget version.

I love gNappies for daytimes. Really trim and flexible as to what materials you can choose to use. When the nappy is just wet you just need to switch the absorbent boosters.

I use Little Lamb bamboo fitted nappies at night with a Motherease Airflow Wrap.

Second all the above recommendations for parents to speak to The Nappy Lady before parting with any money. She recommended MotherEase Wizards for us when I was expecting my DD 3 years ago. The are certainly more pricey than a lot of nappies but absolutely fantastic - I also tried many other options which cost me less to buy and none of them come close to her recommendation in terms of absorbency and drying speed.

I currently use a combination of the Wizard Unos and Duos on 2 children and they are extremely reliable, bombproof and fast drying. Good luck in getting hold of any to test out - they have become extremely popular in the last 6 months and are absolutely impossible to obtain anywhere in the world thanks to this. Fortunately I completed my collection when expecting DC2 last summer.

Personally, I am anti velcro for all nappies - even with laundry tabs, things get stuck and in worst cases, they have damaged other things in the wash. My eldest also learnt how to undo it by 8/9 months old, making it a nightmare. Choose materials carefully based on your requirements - more absorbent usually equates to slow drying but not always. The most popular reusables available in mainstream stores here are Miosolos which are microfibre so not great for environment and not particularly absorbent. I loved them when my eldest was young but by 7 months, she was soaking through a nappy within 2 hours and we had constant compression leaks when she wore leggings.

Love using flats, I’ve got Hempies by The Bottom Line and Bright Bots/White Bots.
Motherease and my #1 brand - airflow wraps are my favourite! Sandys are great for containment but I also like the one-size. Unos and duos are causing chaos at the moment, selling out in seconds and are going up to £100+ for one nappy on eBay!

I don’t get on with all in ones but the ones I tried and liked (until my boy out-weed them) were bumgenius elementals and smart bottoms.

Also a simple pad-folded prefold in a double gusset wrap is a nice, cheap, simple, reasonably slim fitting option. I love the close pop-in wraps but had to stop using them when my baby figured out how to undo Velcro.

Current daily go-to is a sandys nappy with an airflow wrap

Milovia two parters, totbots bamboozle and blueberry wrap, bumgenius elementals, Grovia ONE and AIO.

I've used a lot of reusable nappies over two babies and these are all ace and easy to get hold of (I'm looking at you motherease wizard uno). Milovia are brilliant value too if you reuse the wrap before washing.

Bumgenius, I bought some secondhand from a mother who had used them with two babies and they've never failed me. I bought the v3 second hand and bulked out my collection with the Elementals, they are great too and a lot cheaper. I also use Petit Lulu, the elastics and containment are amazing. For boosters I use the triple bamboo boosters (I've forgotten who makes them!) and the Easy Peasy Nappies hemp boosters. I've just bought some Baa and Boo charcoal bamboo inserts and they dry very quickly.

I use wonderoos, good at staying dry overnight and they’re not awkward to use.

I have used so many!! The best ones I have found are ohBabyKa AIO (all in ones).
They have a double gusset, and a pocket to stuff extra inserts if needed. I have never had a leak and my husband can manage them easily. Great for day and night.
I have tried literally all other nappy brands and systems!!

You don't need to spend £100+ on trying out cloth nappies - just use one of the "try cloth for £10" schemes. If none of the nappies you try works out for you, then return them - they'll be sold on as preloved trial nappies so they won't go to waste.

Never found it necessary to buy special clothes cut for cloth, either. Apart from one pair of skinny jeans that we were given as a gift (I wouldn't dress toddlers in skinnies by choice as I prefer them to have more freedom of movement), all other trousers, tights, dungarees, etc. fitted fine.

This is the only combo we found worked. Tried prefolds and miosolos but not absorbent enough for us

I am a big fan of a two-parter. So reliable, a lot more forgiving of fit and not eye wateringly expensive like some all-in-ones. My favourites are Motherease Sandys (the bamboo ones) and Easy Peasy Bumbles. Paired with a Motherease Airflow wrap. DS has never had to have a change of clothes due to a nappy leak, and he wears them 24/7

Sandys pros: very absorbent, don’t require any tucking in of boosters/inserts, poppers at the sides so not digging in tummy.
Cons: slow drying, they are sized so need to buy two lots of nappies

Bumbles pros: great value, made in the UK, fleece lined so keeps baby dry. Fairly quick to dry. Birth to potty size so no need to buy different sizes.
Cons: bulkier than a Sandy (I don’t mind this). Has a pop-in booster that needs tucking inside after washing, although this does make them dry much quicker.

I'm using terry towelling nappies with boosters at night. I think I've got the bumgenius wraps. It was the cheapest option for me and so far, so good. They dry quickly and aren't stained like I thought they would be.

We use Bambinex Teddys during the day. They're microfibre so dry incredibly quickly, and even though we're in a hard water area they stay really soft. Combined with Motherease Rikki wraps they are bomb-proof; we had no leaks from them during a 2 week D&V episode. However, DS is finding the velcro rather fun now at 8.5 months so as we need to go up a size in wraps soon I think I'll try the Airflows.

We use Tots Bots Bamboozle Stretch at night. They're bulky but very absorbent, especially paired with a bamboo booster.

Got to be Baba+Boo. Think the only reason that more people don't use them is because they don't know about them. We've got three kids and have tried just about every nappy going and nothing comes close to these in terms of quality, longevity and reliability. Cheap too. MioSolos were our worst buy, not absorbent enough from about 7 months and the PUL was too rubbed and worn to sell them on.
