What do your babies wear on their feet?

This is probably a stupid question but FTM here! My DS is 9 months, crawling and standing (with help). What is the right foot wear for him?

He’s just had socks/tights and those slipper sock things so far so his feet don’t get cold but he starts with the childminder in a month and wasn’t sure if he needed something more shoe like but not sure what?

Childcare is outdoor based so want to make sure it’s something he can move properly in but gives him some protection.

You can get “pre-walker” shoes / cruising shoes to get him used to footwear.

Advice we received was that they shouldn't be wearing shoes until they are confidently walking, as their feet are so malleable and shouldn't be constricted.

If he's still crawling, he's going to need to be on reasonably comfy ground outside, ie gravel / stone free. So it should be ground he wouldn't need shoes on if he pulls up (IYSWIM). Maybe some hard wearing trousers if he's going to be moving around outside?

Those soft leather slipper/bootie things are really good (try dottyfish or minifeet or jojo) A good mid point between socks and proper shoes.

Ours always wore those leather slippers from Dotty Fish too - you can find them on Amazon. They’re durable and don’t slip but are nice and flexible.

I sent DD in thick socks when she started at childminder in April time. I didn’t expect her to outside crawling around (unless on grass on a nice day I suppose) and when she was in the pram she’d have a blanket round her to keep her warm.
In winter i used to put a snowsuit on which kept her feet warm.
