Hello,

Just wanted some advice on how best to help my 8yo son. He has friends at school, there are 31 in the class and only 9 boys and goes to a football club. Increasingly worried, he seems to fall out with friends and according to him they talk about him and say he is annoying, he had a little scuffle at football this week also after two boys from his team started punching him after training right in front of me. He doesn't want me to pick his friend up after school anymore to take to football training and have dinner as apparently he was shouting at him.
I have no doubt that my son can be annoying at times, but the issue seems to be more on how he takes criticism, how he seems to feel the world is against him and how he falls in to despair if his iPad is taken off him.
I am a lone parent to two boys and after give years in uni for an MSc now work PT. I give him love and take him places every week, he goes to clubs...I'm not sure what I can do, other than parenting? I thought perhaps a dog may help him and bring his confidence up ?

My son is very similar, and as he was missing a lot of school due to his anxiety, I actually approached the school and asked for their advice /guidance. They arranged some counselling for him, and he really enjoys the sessions. It might be worth asking your DS's school if they have any suggestions?
