Hi

I'm asking here and on chat for traffic.....

My niece has just had twin girls born at 33 weeks. She's only 19 bless her. She;s the first in the family to have

Anyway, BIL has asked me to knit a couple of blankets to use as family baby blankets. I'm more than happy to but I do't think he realises how long it takes to knit and many patterns range from 38 inches to 49 inches.

I think the one i'm doing will end up about 40 by 40 as will the other.

Does this sound about the right size? A few forums have said if you make them too big it is too much folding and too bulky.

I have no idea so asking here.

The ones I crochet for my dc that I find most useful are 22x40 approx (just measured) I fold them in half and they are perfect for over the car seat or pram/Moses basket. I layer up more than one blanket if it is really cold. I would find a 40x40 too big under most circumstances but useful for floor blankets and winter pram journeys. But that size is nicer if your thinking long term as can move with the child to cot and first bed.
