have got meeting today with ds1's nursery teacher, his new reception teacher, both SENCos, G&T person and possibly head teacher. I don't really know how it will go or what to expect, although I know we will be talking about his IEP and the transition to school etc. it's at 2.30 and I have got to drop the boys off at a friend's beforehand, so I have got about 45 minutes to sit here and stew . I was going to make some notes and be all prepared, but my mind has gone a bit blank. And I probably ought to try and look smart, but I am a fat old SAHM with nothing respectable to wear.

Someone pick a fight with me or jolly me along or something, I need distraction

You don't need to be very smart, just be clean

good luck

GreengottsTheGoblinBank · 11/07/2007 13:17

am Greensleeves btw. I think I am vaguely clean, if a bit dishevelled

Good luck! What's G and T, not a stiff drink I assume, though maybe you need one?

MamaGryffindor · 11/07/2007 13:19

lol maybe

either taht or keep your arms behind your back at all times

(have i got it wrong, or did someone once call you snotsleeves in an argument?!)

GreengottsTheGoblinBank · 11/07/2007 13:20

Gifted and Talented it wasn't my bloody idea.

He has an IEP because of social/interaction/communication issues, and we've just been referred for speech therapy for his stammer, so it's all very up in the air at the moment.

Yes, someone did once - not as a joke, as an actual insult - everyone fell about laughing

OP posts:
MamaGryffindor · 11/07/2007 13:21

Yes, I knew it wasn't a joke

MrsCarrot · 11/07/2007 13:22

ah, I see, we are very familiar with senco's and IEPs. Don't be afraid of all the clipboards, better still, take your own!

doggiesayswoof · 11/07/2007 13:29

I think if you are meeting teachers and sencos etc you will be in good company re the fat/badly dressed thing

Also don't worry about notes - you are the World Expert on your DS after all, you're his mum

good luck

GreengottsTheGoblinBank · 11/07/2007 13:29

I haven't got a clipboard, might have to invest in one if this is going to be how things are! I took notes to the last meeting (fewer people, less formal) and ended up feeling like a gawky sixth former standing there with my A4 pad and biro

PS that was a JOKE about teachers and bad clothes and weight issues, before I upset anyone

GreengottsTheGoblinBank · 11/07/2007 13:30

at doggies, that's cheered me up

MamaGryffindor · 11/07/2007 13:30

foxinsocks · 11/07/2007 13:36

being nervous is crap really isn't it

just keep telling yourself that you are an adult

I always find, mysteriously, once I cross the school threshold that I'm transformed back to primary school and about the mental age of ooh around 8. Really not useful when you're trying to have a constructive meeting.

foxinsocks · 11/07/2007 13:40

MamaG, you know, I've never heard of 'riving' (had to look it up)

'riving a big shit ou't is the most fantastic phrase I have heard in ages
