My son is 3 and has been up and down with wees for almost five months now (ie dry for days on end, then suddenly can't bothered to go to the loo.) But has done a poo in his pants every single day and does not care. Have tried everything! Help!

Sounds like he's just not getting it or he could possibly have a medical issue e.g. chronic constipation. (just getting lazy with the wee is par for the course from the 3 year olds Iknow) But as he's doing one every day it seems unlikely. I've got a 3.6 year old and he's pooed every day (several times a day usually) for months now. Chronic constipation diagnosed, but after months of medication and 'retraining' it's still just as bad so my dad (he's a pediatrician) has advised us to give up and go back to pullups. Which we did starting today and god do I feel better and less p*&ssed off all the time!
Alternatively, my dad advised doing a very simple sticker chart which has 7 days and each day is divided into 2. So he can get 2 stickers a day. You change what he gets stickers for as things improve. E.g. he gets a sticker for telling you he's done a poo in his pants to start with, then that he needs a poo, then getting one in the toilet. Always pick something he can 'win' so there's a positive reinforcement and he's getting stickers quite a lot.
I don't know about you, but I'm soooo sick of poo that going back to pullups seemed by far the most sensible option. My dad seemed to think there was nothing wrong with a 3.6 year old in pullups, if they don't get it, you can't force them. Best to avoid the stress and any yelling (well there's yelling in my house after 6 changes of pants).
