Hi! Smile Apologies in advance if this post isn't allowed - please remove if not.

My name is Melissa Barker, and I am a PhD student at Royal Holloway, University of London. As part of my research, I’m trying to find out more about interoception (perception and awareness of sensations inside of our bodies). Specifically, I'm exploring the relationship between interoception and eating behaviour, and how this develops over time.

As part of my project, I’m contacting the parents of female children aged 9, 10 and 11 and looking at how their interoceptive abilities and eating attitudes/behaviours develop. I am also asking the parents (specifically mothers) to help us by answering a few questions about themselves. This is because there is some evidence that interoceptive abilities run in families and it would be useful for us to know if there are any similarities between the children and their parents.

If anybody has female children at this age, then we would really appreciate your help! The study involves two sessions. During the first session, yourself and your child will be asked to fill in a few questionnaires online (approximately 30 mins). In the second session, your child will be asked to complete a few tasks using an iPhone app and via an online form (approximately 30 mins). There is more detailed information about what will happen in the study on our website. If you would like to view this information click this link : theindiestudy.com/home/the-study/. If you or your child would like to know more about interoception, we have also included a video on our website which explains this in more detail: theindiestudy.com/home/what-is-interoception/

If you have any questions or would like to take part, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Thank you for your time!
