Swim nappies and hot weather - help!

We are taking our 7 month old to Mauritius next month.

We have a canopy for the stroller so if he is in that I'm planning on keeping him.in a short sleeved cotton vest.

When he is out I have bought full length UV suits.

Swim nappies: ai have a Konfidence reusable. It just seems so bulky - will it be ok under a suit?

I picked up a cheap happy nappy yesterday but they look skintight and uncomfortable. Given you are supposed to use a lining I can just see him being baking and us being really stressed!

Unlike the Bambino Mio but oots of people.seem to use those with a Happy Nappy. Is that really necessary? Cant I just use the Bambino mio under his suit?

Sorry for thick.questions!

Sorry - typed that with a sleeping baby on me.

I like the Bambino Mio. 'Lots' was also what I was going for.

I just used a disposable swim nappy and a swim suit on holiday. I only used a happy nappy (with disposable underneath) for swimming lessons, because it was in the rules of the class.

Oh actually I remembered for DD2 we used a bambino mio with a swimsuit on holiday. No happy nappy.

I just used a bambino mio and factor 50.

Brilliant thanks everyone. I just got worried because all the reviews of the Bambino Mio say that they used them under a happy nappy. Really dont fancy wrestling a small baby into skin tight neoprene all the time!

I bought one size up for the suits too, just to keep everything airy. I will be there with my 3000 layers of protection for him and dosing him up with Vit D drops every day Blush

DS wore a disposable swim nappy, Happy Nappy and a UV top on holiday in Ibiza. It wasn't too hot. The happy nappy must be more comfortable than it looks, he never minded it.

You really do need the double layer nappy. I discovered this when DS wore a disposable in the paddling pool and pooped. The swim nappy had absorbed loads of water so the poo sort of dissolved and the entire paddling pool was shit water. Horrific. He did a couple of poos on holiday in the double nappy, the happy nappy contained the poo beautifully.

Teddyreddy · 17/03/2019 13:24

For our swimming class, you have to use double containment - so a reusable nappy like the Bambino Mio with a neoprene suit with tight legs like the Happy Nappy over it. The double layers are to stop any poo leakages - if poo leaks the swim school has to pay to have the pool emptied and cleaned so they want to avoid the risk. .. Neither of my two has ever done a poo in the pool, nor has anyone else in our classes - so think it's pretty rare, but as the pool is too cold not too hot wearing layers isn't a problem anyway.

I'm guessing your hotel won't be as strict, so you can get away with just one layer - just be aware if you did get a poo it'll leak and you'd have to tell staff.

I live in a hot country and we use the bambino mio and a happy nappy plus UV top and have no problems. I definitely wouldn't use just the bambino mio as it doesn't really keep things contained on its own especially if the swimsuit you've bought is big too.

Sorry - cross posted

I use the tots bots reusable swim nappy and so far no poo has ever escaped!

welshweasel · 17/03/2019 13:32

Agree the bambino on its own is not enough! We’ve always used the bambino plus a happy nappy over the top and then a uv suit. Holidays in Egypt, Dubai etc and never had an issue with being too hot - they will be in and out the water. Honestly you don’t want to be that person that has the pool closed down due to a poo leak.

Bugger.
No I really dont!
Wishing I'd bought tops now.
But they all say they dont need a 2nd layer!
