5month old - breathing/sleeping worries

So my son has had a bad chest and cough on and off for 3 weeks now. He got worse overnight last night so we phoned 111 and this resulted in an out of hours appt at the hospital today. They confirmed he needed antibiotics for a chest infection, and we have given him his first dose this evening, as well as the calpol he’s been having for the past 24 hours. This evening he’s just been screaming in his sleep and waking up hysterical like he’s in pain and we manage to settle him back to sleep for a short time.
I’m just so paranoid about his breathing. The doc said he had good oxygen levels but was quite concerned when he listened to his chest. We are off up to bed soon and I’m just panicking that his breathing will deteriorate in the night and I won’t wake up (he still sleeps in our room in his next to me cot) - it’s like my worst fear.
Husband and I are trying to decide whether we should take shifts and one of us watch him or if we think he will be okay? He’s good at coughing in his sleep, as he’s been doing it through the night for the past week!🙈
My little one hasn’t had any struggles with his breathing, he’s just been sounding awful and coughing a lot, so I’ve no idea where this paranoia has come from about him struggling for breath, but I’m just so terrified!
Any advice would be amazing - thanks x

Had this recently with our 7 month old. We took shifts holding/ cuddling him in the night. We were knackered, but I think the worry would have kept us up.

If I here you I wouldn't sleep. It's just tiredness you can catch up with sleep. Just make sure your boys ok. X
