Does anyone have any good tips for winding a baby if the normal ways dont work. My friend has a baby who wont wind properly and cries a lot of the time?

Is she sure it is wind ? How about lying him across her lap or chest face down and rubbing his back. Otherwise there is gripe water, infacol, fennel tea which may or may not help.
