Baby chewing cat's collar

I found my 11 month old chewing on the cat's collar this morning...should I be concerned about him catching anything??

(I don't leave the baby alone with the cat, she had removed the collar in the night without me noticing and I was washing my hands after a nappy change so he was only alone a few moments in an otherwise baby proofed room!)

Is it a normal collar or flea collar?

BaronessBomburst · 11/03/2019 10:13

Was it a flea collar?
If it was I'd ring the NHS helpline for advice.
If it wasn't I'd not worry in the slightest. The baby will be long since immune to anything the cat may have.

Oh no sorry I should have said, it's a normal leather collar, not a flea collar. That's a good point baroness since they do both spend most of their time on the floor!

I really wouldn’t worry. A normal leather collar is only going to have the same germs as anywhere else the cat has been laying/walking. As long as you haven’t used any flea treatment fairly recently I wouldn’t worry. Well, I, would worry because I worry about these things, but I would know I shouldn’t worry!Grin

Wait until you find your dc eating dry cat food!!

Wolfiefan · 11/03/2019 14:24

As long as they don’t graze on the litter tray contents I’m sure it’ll be fine! Grin
As an aside cat collars are an awful risk. Better to leave it off.

I had visions of a baby chewing on a collar of a bemused and patient cat Grin

Both my babies have had the dogs foot/tail/ear in their mouths... she's a good dog I must say. I gave up worrying about the germs after the first a billion times...
