C section and baths

How long after a c section did you have a bath? Have asked midwife but had no reply as to when I can have one. I don’t have a shower so had to use a jug the past 2 weeks and haven’t been able to wash my hair

I was told not for 6 weeks. With my first I waited for the all clear. With the second I started having a bath around 5 weeks as I was pretty certain it was all healed up

notakardashian · 08/03/2019 19:03

7 weeks and it was lovely

Elllicam · 08/03/2019 19:04

I was in within a week but I had a 10 day waterproof dressing on. By the time the dressing came off I was fairly well healed.

Had 2 emergencies, was given the okay on day 5 with both when the midwife took the dressing thingie off.

When I saw the consultant whilst pregnant I asked her because I'd heard so much conflicting advice in the meantime and she said that was fine, but be careful getting in/out, make sure there is another adult in the house, don't soak that bit and use a clean towel. I had no issues whatsoever.

boomboom1234 · 08/03/2019 19:18

I'm Pretty sure both times I was fine to have a bath at two weeks.

Lauren83 · 08/03/2019 19:22

About 10 days I think, didn't have a long hot soak just a quick one

bengalcat · 08/03/2019 19:23

Day 1 in hospital

Thesearmsofmine · 08/03/2019 19:24

I was told it was fine whenever I wanted too. It took about a week with my first two to be able to get in and out myself. I just used plain water.

Em3978 · 08/03/2019 19:59

I had a bath in hospital on day 4 to get the dressing off. Midwife suggested it.

Kel801 · 08/03/2019 20:03

Following day as soon as I got home . It was bliss x

If you need to wash your hair, may I suggest a bucket of warm water in the bath (along with you!) then use a jug to pour the water over your hair. We didn't have a shower for the first few years we were married, and did this.

As soon as midwife confirmed was healed 1st week

Celebelly · 08/03/2019 20:16

Midwives said it was fine when dressing was off but not to use fragranced bubble bath or any product. I had one the day after dressing came off and it really helped to get rid of the sticky bits!

Orangehandtowel · 08/03/2019 20:18

5 days the midwife said it would help with the dressing and it did.

RainbowMum11 · 08/03/2019 20:23

As soon as the dressings were off - with a couple of drops of tea tree oil in - was heavenly.

3boysandabump · 08/03/2019 20:24

As soon as my stitches had dissolved which iirc was 5 days

EyeDrops · 08/03/2019 21:08

Midwife said a bath was fine at my 10 day check, just be careful getting in/out.

However, I didn't ask when bubble bath etc is ok!! I got some Lush bath bombs just before the birth and am looking forward to using them. I'm 5w pp now, and have healed well, but I'm still cautious...
