Hi all,

I'm 36 weeks and haven't even leaked yet.. is this normal?

I'm wondering whether I'll even be capable of breast feeding?

Be good to hear about other peoples experiences!

Thank you :) :)

I never leaked. I have now been breastfeeding 4 months and still dont leak but DS is happy, putting on weight and having plenty of wet nappies so he is getting enough.x

I never leaked before or after birth, and have have been breastfeeding DD for 2.5 years now. Leaking doesn't mean anything - I'm sure you'll be fine!

I was worried about this too as I didn't leak at all prior to birth, and couldn't even hand express until a midwife used her own hand to show me how and where to squeeze on day 2, so don't worry about it :) After a planned c section, my proper milk came in on day 3 (so no delay), and the only reason we couldn't persevere with ebf was mastitis. I'm still a bit upset about it 6 weeks on tbh.

I breast fed 4 and never leaked before the baby had arrived I don't think

Yes this is normal. You will almost certainly be capable of breastfeeding. Your body will produce colostrum at first which is ideal for your baby but your milk won’t come in until about day 3 or 4 after your baby is born. Then you will leak!

Yayyyy! This is all great news. So really, it's a good thing! No leaks .. and hopefully a good time breast feeding.. fingers crossed!

I didn't leak at all while pregnant with both of mine, I BF both. I have a friend who didn't leak either and she BF her 1st until 2yr+

Your body releases hormones after giving birth (they're related to the placenta I believe) so perfectly normal to not leak before your baby being born

I never leaked at all throughout my pregnancy and have been EBF for 8 months and all is going well. Don’t worry yourselfSmile

Huntawaymama · 07/03/2019 13:27
