Growth spurt/ weaning and flailing in sleep

Hi, my little boy is 14 weeks 4 days today and currently drinking 210ml bottles, he has around 5-6 a day and has done for the last couple of weeks, according to the Aptamil box he shouldn’t be drinking that amount till he’s 5-6 months but he’s always been a hungry baby since he was born, anyhow I’m not sure if he’s had a growth spurt again as he usually sleeps through from 10.30pm to 6.30am but the last two nights he had woken up at 3am and had another bottle. My health visitor said I shouldn’t start weaning until he’s 6 months as their digestive system isn’t working proper till then but my mother in law keeps saying oh he prob wants more than milk now and that I should give him baby rice or porridge but I’m not sure I should. What do u think? I think he’s also teething a little as constantly chewing things and his cheeks go red sometime, can’t see teeth just yet. Also the past 2 nights when he has woken up he flails around putting his hands on his head and lifting his legs in his sleep sack and banging them down in his next to me crib, does anyone else’s baby do this? He does it whilst asleep, not sure why he does this

Don't give him baby rice it's of absolutely no nutritional value, listen to the health visitor on this one. My dd was the same being very hungry all the time drinking both bottles and breast. She used to sleep through from 7.30 to 6am but at around 4.5 months she started waking again hungry. She's only now starting to sleep right through again at nearly 7 months.

I'd suggest riding it out for now.
Good luck!

Thanks @snowdropfox yes I’ve been reading about that rice stuff and it doesn’t sound good so il just stick to giving him more milk as am doing now :) my aunties kept saying to me “oh your cousin was on baby porridge and rice at 6 weeks” and I was like bloody hell! That was 30 odd years ago tho but still there’s a reason u stick to the 6 months for weaning. My HV was adamant that we should stick to the 6 months so that’s what I’m going to do :)

People are full of well meaning advice and don't seem to understand that things change as more research is done. Yes it may not have done their wee ones any harm but now what we are doing is setting our wee ones up for the best possible start they can have according to what we know now.
