Toddler pulling and eating hair

My little girl is 22 months old. Since she has been 3 months old she has been eating any hair she can find and trying to pull my hair out to eat. Now she has realised she can pull her own hair out to eat and she has nearly gone bald on one side. Has anyone ever come across anything similar or have any advice on what I could do to stop her doing it?

I’m afraid I don’t have any advice other than talk to a GP - that sounds really dangerous if she’s actually eating it as hair can ball up in the stomach and cause problems so a doctor definitely needs to be aware of it!

Sorry just to clarify. She spits it out afterwards but wants to have hair in her mouth. It’s very strange

trichotillomania

Is the term applied for compulsive hair pulling.
Have a read around and see what you find, but definitely discuss with your health visitor and/or GP.

Could be something around trichotillomania but I've not heard of picking up hair and eating it before.
Get to gp asap

I have it by the way. Had it 25 years and if not nipped in the bud, she will likely have it for life.
