3 year old waking for cuddles

Our 3 year old has recently started waking several times in the night wanting cuddles. He has a quick cuddle for reassurance and then will settle... until he wakes up again. If we try and ignore he comes into our room.

He recently moved into his big boy room and was initially sleeping right through. Our second little one is due any day now which he is excited about, I wondered whether it could be anxiety over this? But whenever we talk about it he just says how much he loves her and can’t wait for her to come.

Does it just sound like a phase? Ride it out? Or does anyone have any suggestions? We have a solid bedtime routine, up at 7pm, 3 stories, small cup of milk and sleep.

Mine is younger than yours but I found the gentle sleep book really helpful with ideas to improve bedtime routines. Even if your little boy is really excited to be a big brother it's still a massive change for him (as it is for you too) so maybe he just wants some extra time with you to be reassured he's still your baby? Thanks. Yeah that’s the only thing I can put it down to, big change for him. X

Mine did this for one week recently and has since gone back to normal. Might be a phase?
