Terrified of vomit plus sick baby

Please help, I'm absolutely terrified of vomit, whether that's the action, the smell, the sound. So much that if anyone near me says they feel unwell the rest of my thoughts are dominated by whether they feel sick, whether they may be sick, and whether I can catch it.
Up until now my daughter of 18months has never been sick (apart from one or two bouts of milk over eating when she was tiny), but tonight she has been properly sick. My husband went to check on her as she was crying and she had thrown up everywhere, cue my panic. He tidies her up then brings her too me for some cuddles, I'm shaking. She is then sick next to me, my husband takes her and all I can do to not cry is get a shower as I'm terrified of catching whatever she may have.
My husband has sent me to the spare room so he can look after her but I feel utterly terrible. I'm her mum, I'm supposed to look after her when she's sick. When she has a cold, I sit up with her all night keeping her raised and close so she can sleep. When she had chicken pox last month she spent a week lay on me, just being close. I've never felt like a more worse mum and I just don't know what to do.
Has anyone been through this, anyone have tips on how I can be a mum to my baby when she needs me most?

Unless you are willing to really face your phobia and overcome it I’d suggest leave it to Dad to handle. It isn’t a big deal to miss out on vommy cuddles - she will not be vomiting that much in her life.

Are you my husband? Grin

Honestly, I think if dad is ok with it, I'd just leave him to it but help out with things like putting fresh sheets on etc. Hope your dd is feeling better.
