Holding baby

This may sound ridiculous but my baby is now too big for Moses basket but we’ve tried him in his cot this week and I can’t reach him easily to pick up safely. He’s also become very wriggly and picking him up in general has become a bit of an ordeal. Any advice/ tips? Stressing out what to do!

Most cots have adjustable height settings - does yours not? If not it might be worth looking for one second hand?

How old is he? And how tall are you?

Yes cot on highest height should be easier to lift from than Moses.

Hiya, thank you! the cot we have been given from my parents as it was mine and my brothers just has an adjustable side that barely comes down. I have just checked out the new ones with adjustable bases like you say so may have to buy one of those! Thank you! I’m 5 ft 3 and a weakling so find picking up my chunky little man now he’s a massive wriggler tricky at the best of times! Any of you guys sometimes find it tricky or am I just a bit weak?!!

That’ll be the problem then. Yes I had the exact same issue with my first, I had a second hand drop side one and not only did putting her down low to the bottom kill my back, she always woke if putting her down asleep as it was such a big drop. I bought an adjustable height one from Argos I think at £50. Coslept with DD1 in the end as she hated all cots but now getting use out of it with DD2.

And it’s normal to be a weakling so soon after having a baby. I’d really recommend Pilates if you can, to behold your core strength it will really help as baby gets heavier.

Definitely get an adjustable base one - you can keep it on the highest level until they can sit up, I think?

I’m half a foot taller than you and struggled to put babies down into cots on the lowest level without waking them - def look for an alternative if you can!
