Cloth/reusable nappy help please

We started last week after i dithered for a long time. On the whole really happy, using BTP nappies, no leakage yet and he looks adorable in them. However he is getting a bit of a red tummy where they rub him. Is this me doing them too tight? Or should i be getting something to protect his tummy?

Also bought a large amount of ecover to discover you shouldnt use it with them ideally.....has anyone used it without issue??

Slackness on the waist won't make leaks so slacken off and see how you go. Or it could be Velcro scratching ? Or too much washing powder / not rinsed off enough

I did wonder if it might be the velcro scratching but I'm guessing that's just how they are? I'll slacken it off and see how we get on. Thank you
