Oh bless. This takes me back, because I used to be the child gagging when little babies made a mess. I doubt she’s doing it for attention, it’s a genuine reflex (some of us have stronger stomachs than others). I’m sure she’ll grow out of it/get used to it, but in the meantime is there a way to face her away from the baby a bit while they’re eating? Or distract her so she’s not looking at the mess? She might also find some things easier to look at (tomatoey mush less disgusting than green or white for example). I’m weaning my baby now and my mum can’t sit and eat with us as it turns her stomach. Fortunately I grew out of the gagging!

I had roughly the same gap and my eldest was just the same OP Smile

One thing that helped us was putting on an audio book to distract them.

Thankyou both for replying. Its funny she doesn't always gag she just cant watch so it obviously puts her off her food. Im trying to tackfully get her to have a picnic lunch in front of the tv then do his in the kitchen but when she has been up at the table and trying to get down and i shout coz im so frustrated she does sit and eat just not look at him. He has just started eating literally this week and im trying to baby led wean but unfortunately this means sick comes up sometimes. He is ok with baby porridge. Maybe ill give him a different colour lol. Im just so anxious about it as she has regressed with potty training and pooing as well so dunno if it is all a baby reaction. I hated weaning her coz she was never that interested but he is and i think it will be ok except she is so funny :(

Why can't you just let her get down?

SnowWhite26 · 19/02/2019 03:59

She would never eat anything if she always got down lol

Oh I see lol, if she wants to get down when the baby is eating because it grosses her out though, can she not eat first, or away from the table?

Not ideal I know, but if something is making me heave there's no way I'd be able to eat!

Health visitor suggested showing her pics on phone of babys eating she was happy to look. She sat ok at tea time asked to get down once so i said ok and she stayed lol just fed him discreetly but he was watching her and she was sneakerly watching him x
