Hi all.
I have already been to the doctors about this on friday, the dr said there is no infection (she checked ears and chest) she said his heart&chest sounded fine. Later that evening he had a high temperature of 39 degrees, he was crying a lot, it went down with calpol, the following day he still not feeling very well, tempature shoots up to 40 degrees! But also went down with calpol, he has had a runny nose this whole duration, last night he was coughing a lot, and today he is still coughing sounds pretty chesty but his chest is not wheezing and doesnt feel or sound chesty when he is breathing. His temp is fine today, my main concern is that he is still unwell and very drowsy and sleepy, not himself, unhappy and lying all over me, he hasnt ate properly in a week, he is refusing all meals but is drinking milk and water fine. He is pale and eyes are red. He is not acting himself, but should i take him to the doctors again considering i have already been for this? She said it is most likely to be “just a virus”.

Any rash anywhere? This sounds very similar to my DS just before he went down with hand, foot and mouth. To my shame, I took him to A&E when his temp wouldn't go lower than 40.4 with Nurofen.

The rash started sprouting while we were there and he was covered by the next morning. Took about 3 weeks to fully recover.

Rash started on the back of his neck, which is apparently quite common.

It does sound like a virus going by my 3dc, and like pp one of the times was HFM.

Youngest temp was 42 at one point and very fast heart rate and breathing. Once the rash appeared he improved.

I’d personally keep an eye out for ‘red flags’ & wait it out next couple of days, hopefully he’ll improve soon.

Hi thank you for your reply, no he hasn't currently got a rash, but will keep an eye out for it now.

I would get him checked again if you think he needs it. My DD went from Dr saying not infection to on IV antibiotics within 24 hours. Sometimes the infection is just starting to get hold and they can’t find it yet.

Totally agree with @Jackshouse - when we took DS to A&E (on the advice of OOT GP) it was looking like they were going to send us straight home but then the temp spiked and his rash appeared. Trust your gut.
