Perfume on newborn baby - how to get it off?

A friend came over yesterday to meet our 4 week old baby and she had absolutely drenched herself in perfume (jo malone maybe?) she held the baby for a bit and the smell rubbed off on the baby’s clothes and head. I changed the baby’s clothes and wiped down the head with cooled boiled water but this morning the smell is still there.

We’ve bathed him this morning (with water and a dab of breast milk on his head) but the smell of the perfume is still there.

What else can I do to get rid of the smell?? Any suggestions much appreciated.

@Pelly8 are you not willing to use a baby bath/body wash? There are some really gentle lovely smelling ones.

How annoying! (Though at least Jo Malone usually smells good)

Wish my jo Malone had that kind of staying power! I find it fades quite quickly. Surely it will fade today? Use a gentle baby soap? I use neals yard or aveeno on my babies eczema prone skin and that seems to be fine.

My dad did this with aftershave - I absolutely hated it. The scent seemed to really cling to my little boy’s hair - he’s had a rather full head of hair since birth - and we had to shampoo it a few times to get rid of the smell. I’ve found the Child’s Farm shampoo to be very mild and effective.

Thank you all! I have Neals Yard baby shampoo but it says suitable for use from 3 months so didn’t use it. I will send out the other half to buy aveeno or child’s farm.

I think it has so much staying power because she probably bathes in the stuff bless her! It does smell nice but just doesn’t smell as nice as my bubba and I miss his scent. I also read some stuff online about perfumes not being good for babies and am super paranoid about it now. Thanks for your help!
