How do I get my 6 month old napping in a cot?!

I have a 6 month old girl who from about 2 weeks old has had every single nap on me in the sling. I love it and I’m happy to hold her but practically I can’t keep doing it forever- I don’t get anything done, my back is starting to hurt as she is getting heavier and I will be going back to work in summer!

I am really keen to get her to nap elsewhere. I keep trying pram but she will cry for over an hour without falling asleep....

Transferring from sling to cot doesn’t work.

Anybody had any success in a similar situation?

She’s in a great nap routine of 2-3 naps a day totalling 3-4h daily and sleeps well at night with 1/2 wakes

Have you tired rocking until very drowsy placing her down and then keeping your hands on her chest or on her arms while she falls asleep? Sounds a bit strange but might work as she’ll know you’re still there

I can put my DD down drowsy & she will remain asleep but will only ever have 30-40 mins maximum.
Plus her night sleep has gone to shit too. My eldest was a rubbish sleeper thought i had escaped it this time round clearly not Sad

Where does she sleep on night time? Have you tried transferring from sling to cot?

I’ve been in the exact same position and have been doing a few things to gradually get my DS off me for naps

So it started with rocking to sleep and then he’d sleep on me on the sofa, then I’ve started doing the same but in our bedroom so he’s used to daytime sleeps there

Then I started putting him next to me in our bed (with me next to him) and he sort of cuddles into me and falls asleep. Only for about half an hour and then I have to haul him back on to me to get him back to sleep if he needs more. I’m still with him through this as the monitors not in that room but it’s progress and I’m hoping to keep building on this

Maybe you could try this in the interim just to give your back a break

I’m also now putting him in his cot for his first bedtime sleep (until I go up) and just resettling him if he wakes. Will be doing this for daytime naps too soon. I get him to sleep and then basically have to lower him in gently and sort of almost keep my chest touching him while I get my arms out so he thinks I’m still holding him and then gradually move away
