Breastfeeding queries

Morning ladies

I thought I had breastfeeding down, with my eldest I fed until 1 with no issues at all. My periods started again at 5m

I'm 7m in with DD2 and finding it much more stressful this time

Anyway, did your periods come back at about the same time with baby 2 as they did with baby 1? Mine hasn't and while I want to just enjoy that it has me on edge waiting for it. Since December I've also had random bouts of really bad period type pain where I thought it would start that night or the next day but never did. I don't remember this from last time so it has me worried

Second query, how do you deal with biting? My eldest bit me a couple of times when she had top and bottom teeth but being told no quite sharply stopped her. It was never a big issue. This one however has cut her first tooth and seems to enjoy jamming it into my nipple and tossing her head about. It really hurts, I'm full of cold and last night ended up in tears she was hurting me so much. She didn't seem to want to properly feed, both my boobs were super full, one had a blockage but even though she hadn't fed for a while she just wouldn't feed. Usually she'll feed quite a lot from 6pm until 730 when she goes to sleep but last night she just wouldn't settle herself until 9. I don't know if the milk tasted different due to my cold (not to be a baby but it's a bad one) or what but it was awful

Any tips would be great. The whole thing just has me so upset. I've tried her with formula today (which I really don't want to do but I'm so upset) but she wouldn't take it. She always refused bottles but right now I just want to stop breastfeeding

My periods came back earlier with my bf one than with my ff one (3 months vs. 5 months). So I think it can be completely random, but certainly it was earlier with my 2nd (and bf) baby.

As for biting, a very stern no and un-latching him and ending the feed worked. He did get quite upset about it one time and it led to a nursing strike, which sounds like might be what's happening with you. After that one bad bite and nursing strike, he's never bitten again. That was probably around 7 ish months. I would try to hang in there, express some milk if you need to to move things along.

I didn't have those particular issues with breastfeeding but if you decide you want to try formula mine were both more likely to take it If it was presented in a sippy cup in the highchair rather than in a bottle while cuddling. I.e. a new and separate thing rather than trying to mimic breastfeeding. I didn't get periods back for a year with both of mine (was great! Though I understand that not knowing when it might happen is annoying). Hope you feel happier soon whatever you decide about continuing to feed. Could she be getting the cold too and therefore not so keen to feed?
