Hi all, bit long sorry.
Baby is 4 weeks old. In NICU for a week, couldn't latch so expressed, cup fed then bottle.
Initially used Tommee Tippee bottles when home with size 1 teats but had awful wind and would choke multiple times a feed.
Moved to MAM for wind with size ones, still choking, like he can't swallow, suck, breath all at once. Pace fed but still trying to guzzle.
3 weeks old moved to size 2s as taking 20mins to drink an oz and falling asleep when previously drinking 4oz in a normal amount of time. No milk spilling out the side of mouth etc but the choking continues. He is upright, pace fed etc. He chokes on size 1 or 2.
Is it worth changing to TT size 2s? Wind issues continue on MAM.
Its super stressful every feeding with a baby choking

Sorry you're having difficulty, are you still expressing or have you moved to formula? If you're still expressing try nipple shields. They might help with the latch. Then the whole bottle issue disappears for a bit.
If you're ff I don't think moving up a size is going to help, if anything it'll make it worse. It might be a case of trying to a different teat altogether. I've heard good things about Dr Brown, and personally I've used NUK latex which are great.
What has the HV said?

Given up expressing as didn't have time with a 3 year old. Tried nipple shields and still no luck, everyone was stumped.
You think I should try a different bottle? I tried the 1s this morning again and still choked but gave up and fell asleep after an oz. Put the 2s back on and drank all 4 oz but still choking. Around 5 times a feed

We've had so many bottle problems too especially with Tommy Tippee sizes 1 and 2, and wind and reflux (breastfeeding failed partly due to mastitis). We switched to NUK bottles. The standard size M teats for NUK silicon were much better than everything else we tried - we found the S new born size teats were great for normal formula, but we've moved to anti reflux formula which goes down better with the M newborn teats.

Our now 17 day old has gone from less than 300ml per 24 hours and hours of agonizing wind after each feed to averaging 700ml a day in the week since we switched on advice from HV.

Apparently the Tommee Tippees were just too much hard work for him to feed effectively from. We're all much happier now and he's finally gaining weight. Instead of an hour per 30ml, he can get through 120ml in 30 minutes now (if he's had a good sleep) with another 30 minutes of winding during breaks and after. It's been life changing!
