Breastfeeding - Building milk supply

Unicorntearsaremagic · 07/02/2019 15:49

Ds 9 days old is breastfeeding constantly. It seems to be all day and all night.
I’m thinking maybe my supply isn’t enough.
Is there anything you can eat to build supply? I’ve heard oats are good, don’t know if there’s any truth in this?
Taking a supplement already.
Any words of wisdom gratefully accepted.

What you describe is him building your supply. The more he feeds the more your body will make. He's programming your boobies. Relax, eat well and drink plenty of fluids it'll settle in a day or so. Xx

Here is a good website to have a read of while you're feeding. Just monitor baby's nappies if you're getting plenty of wet/dirty ones then you're doing just fine

He’s working on building your supply- he knows his job! Make sure you eat and drink plenty and keep an eye on his nappies. It’ll calm down soon once the bio feedback thingy’s working properly.

Sounds exactly right. Just eat and drink loads. A glass of water every time you feed and regular snacks. I used to have a bowl of dried fruit, nuts and chocolate next to my bed at night. And then just feed loads. That’s really the only trick. They feed about every hour or so at that age.

Thanks for advice he seems happy and nappy changes are very frequent!
I am ravenously hungry considering I’m doing very little in the way of physical activity.

How's it going now @Unicorntearsaremagic

Just keep feeding that baby on demand. You are doing great. Stay hydrated. Eat lots.
