Entertaining a 4 month old - when does it get easier?

I am at that annoying stage of 4 months, where my baby doesn’t nap longer the 3 one hour bursts, gets bored at activities I give him after 10 minutes and it’s too wet and cold to venture outside. I got to baby Sensory once a week and another baby group. Every day seems so slow. When does it feels too feeling like I have to constantly entertain my baby?

We are at the 4 month stage and my DD gets bored quite quickly. We go out every day without fail which helps. I take her to a different group each day (yoga, massage, sensory, swimming, parent class) and we will go for coffee most days with friends. I tend to take her to the park most days too to tire her out and she really loves the ducks.

When we get home I read to her, let her watch some cartoons, play with her and her toys. I tend to have to do something new every 15 minutes. She also really loves the bath so that kills a little time each night.

Going out is the lifesaver for me.

I could have written this post OP! My 4 month old is exactly the same, and god the days are dragging at the moment. DS seems pretty happy on his change mat while I put his washing away and I do some baby massage each time I change his nappy. I try to go for a walk every day with DS either in his pram or in his carrier, let him watch 5 mins of Little Baby Bum a couple of times a day, put him in his bouncer while I do some chores - but usually after a few minutes he gets bored and starts shouting. I ended up in Starbucks at 6pm last night cos I couldn’t stand being inside any more!

DD is happy under the A Frame for 20 minutes at a time and we go out every day.
I’m curious about people using bouncers...really eager to put DD in one but my sister keeps telling me it’s too early. Could people tell me what sort of bouncers they have? I want to put DD on one that hangs from the door! Sorry to hijack

Honestly? The toddler stage is much worse for having to keep them occupied and not take your eyes off them for a second. Enjoy this baby stage!

I found it gets easier when they’re around 4. The golden years are 4-7. Before the tweenery sets in Grin

Buy a jumperoo!! It will keep your little one entertained for hours. Plus the rainforest one is on offer at Asda at the moment! Smile

Also can pick jumperoos up second hand for a really reasonable price, less than £25 sometimes. Even if you just let little one play in it for an hour to free up some time for you. They need to learn to play on their own to and not co stanly be entertained by you, it's healthy for them.

Toddlers are harder work yes but SOOOO much more interesting. Give me a toddler over a 4 month old any day!

I’ll happily swap you mine!? Grin

I would take a toddler over a 4-month-old any day! They are so boring at 4 months and all mine did was moan. All. Day. Long. I find it's more fun when they start crawling.

Toddlers have to be supervised more closely yes, but watching them is just so fascinating and they are able to amuse themselves much better (sometimes at the detriment to your possessions, admittedly).

I feel your pain. Mine hated the house and wouldn't nap. I was always out and exhausted.
