My DD(2) is good as gold.

When the nails clippers/file comes out she turns into a raging wriggler of the highest order.

Top tips on how to make it easier please? Gin

I have a similar situation!
I ask her to choose which hand/foot then sing “Peter pointer” etc

Sometimes it works, other times I just point out everything I can see as quick as I can in the hope it distracts her.

With hair and nails I used to play pretend, snip snip snip, day after day and then do it for real!

Catscratchclub · 03/02/2019 17:43

I swopped to a nail file and told Ds he was having a pedicure like me.... he was just terrified of the clippers so I gave up. He’s 6 now and will let me do it, so it was just a phase (actually, he bites his off now so that sort of solves the problem Blush)

DH started to put a cushion over DD’s fingers so she could not see the clippers, obviously she knows what is happening but it seems to be working.

TeddyIsaHe · 03/02/2019 18:42

I still do it whilst she’s asleep. One or two fingers at a time so I don’t wake her! Only takes a week or so 😂

AnduinsGirl · 03/02/2019 18:44

I still have a scar on the tip of my finger from where my mum drew blood with nail clippers. I still remember to this day!!

Purplepricklesalloverhisback · 03/02/2019 18:44

Cut them when she is asleep! It’s the only way I can do DS’s.

LucyInTheSkyy · 03/02/2019 18:45

Check when they are in a deep sleep and do 1/2 a night without waking them. Should be able to let you when they are 5 ish... it's a nightmare though. Sympathies, OP.

Alseep in the car seat was the only way mine got their nails cut - good angle too

Apple23 · 03/02/2019 20:23

Squeeze the tip of the finger to numb it, then snip.

Oh so many of these made me laugh. Thanks everyone.

Bribed her with two episodes of Waffle the Wonder Dog, so that's the trauma over for another week!

My dd has always hated having her nails done and would have the most horrible tantrums over it. I always seemed to wake her if I tried to do them whilst she was asleep. I bought some cheap Disney nail varnish and she would happily let me snip her nails if I would then paint them. Nail varnish would come off in the bath.

File them, don't clip - so much easier.
